Pata de Perro Productions is the production company of the director, producer and educator María Teresa Rodríguez. Her award winning documentaries have aired internationally and nationally on PBS and cable television, in film festivals, and in community and educational settings.

As the daughter of Colombian and Irish immigrants, she has navigated between different cultures her whole life, instilling in her a curiosity about diverse ways of being in the world; this curiosity is intrinsic to her work as a media artist and educator.  Her work is often bilingual, telling stories in and of the Americas that explore the intersection between family, memory, history and identity.

Whether she is working with the Director of the National School of Ballet in Havana, Cuba, or a US adoptee searching for her family in El Salvador, or with female farmers and ranchers in Uruguay, María sees her work as a type of cultural bridging whose content can present the audience with new ways of looking at an issue or a subject, and perhaps even new ways of looking at themselves.

In additional to her independent and commissioned media projects, María has served on juries for festivals and funds, taught production, film analysis and documentary seminars in the US, Uruguay and Colombia and has been involved with community media for over two decades.  To see a complete filmography please click here.
